For this project, I combined familiar skills with new techniques and materials, allowing for both growth and experimentation. I incorporated elements I was comfortable with alongside skills that were either entirely new or areas where I had limited experience. Exploring unfamiliar materials added an exciting layer of discovery and creativity to the process. Each piece in the project is a scale mock up, featuring silver-to-black acrylic and a custom designed 3D printed component. The flagship sign includes an optical light element designed to mimic stars, creating a striking and dynamic effect. Beyond the physical elements, I refined my graphic design skills by designing maps of the build and launch sites, and crafting both custom icons and fonts. Additionally, I expanded my CAD and 3D printing skills, as every 3D-printed component was my own design. This project allowed me to bridge conceptual ideas with physical prototypes, highlighting the interplay between design, functionality, and visual storytelling. This project pushed both my technical and creative boundaries.

This group project was a collaboration with three others, and we chose to focus on the story of Perseus. This theme allowed one member to showcase her expertise by researching and drawing constellations, while another student and I worked on designing a way to highlight them. Using LED lights and foam core boards, we built light boxes to illuminate laser-cut cardstock, bringing the constellations to life. To support the panels, we used PVC pipes with LEDs tucked along the sides, creating a glowing light bar effect. Vellum was added to display text explaining each constellation and its story, tying the visual and narrative elements together. I was able to use CAD to visualize how the panels would fit in the space and gained hands-on experience with the band saw while cutting PVC. This project pushed us to in the moment creatively problem-solve, from crafting an efficient lighting system to ensuring the materials worked harmoniously. It also strengthened my teamwork skills, as we each relied on our unique strengths to bring the project to completion.
